This summer, Rose-Hulman students took what they learned in Terre Haute into workplaces and research labs across the country, gaining hands-on experience in fields ranging from Eli Lilly and Company to AECOM Hunt and IBM Power. Their summer destinations included some of the world’s most recognizable companies and research organizations, as well as leading universities across the country.

Rose-Hulman students completed 575 experiences at 406 companies and organizations in summer 2026. These numbers reflect the internships, co-ops, and research experiences Rose-Hulman students completed this summer to put their education into practice.

For Claire Allen, a summer at Eli Lilly and Company helped close the gap between what she learned in the classroom and how engineering is applied in a real manufacturing environment.

For Andrew Mrozinske, an internship with AECOM Hunt took him to New York City, where he gained experience on the John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 6 project and discovered that even the biggest challenges can become valuable lessons.

For Vance Steele, a summer at IBM Power in Austin, Texas, gave him experience developing enterprise technologies while exploring how computer engineering can shape the future of artificial intelligence and secure computing.

By their junior year, 90% of Rose-Hulman students have completed at least one internship, co-op, or research experience. That early exposure to the professional world helps students build confidence and see how what they learned in class applies to the real world.

For more than 20 years, Rose-Hulman has maintained a 95-99% placement rate, demonstrating the Institute’s long-standing focus on preparing students for life after graduation. With 100% of graduates reporting their post-graduation status, Rose-Hulman remains among the few colleges nationally to calculate placement outcomes for the entire graduating class rather than survey respondents alone.

Rose-Hulman’s career preparation has also earned national recognition. The Princeton Review ranked Rose-Hulman No. 7 nationally for best career services and No. 20 for best career placement in its 2027 rankings. LinkedIn ranked Rose-Hulman No. 1 nationally for job placement in its 2026 Top Colleges rankings for the second year in a row.

But statistics only tell part of the story; the experiences behind them show many ways Rose-Hulman students are putting their education into action.

These students spent the summer designing what’s next, bringing new ideas to life, and improving the way things are made. Other Rose-Hulman students saw their engineering skills in action on projects designed to build stronger communities around them. And some followed their curiosity into research, innovating and advancing discovery, asking questions and exploring possibilities.

Together, these experiences show what can happen when Rose-Hulman students have the opportunity to take what they have learned and put it to work.
