Rose-Hulman Oakley Observatory to Host Free Public Open Houses

Rose-Hulman's Oakley Observatory will hold free public open houses on October 2 and October 16, as well as January 17, April 23, July 23, and August 20, 2027.
Rose-Hulman's Oakley Observatory will host a series of free, public, open houses to celebrate the skies and observe the horizons.
Open houses will be held throughout the academic year to allow observation of the sky's changes from season to season. Upcoming dates include October 2 during Homecoming weekend and October 16 during Rose-Hulman Family Weekend, both beginning at 10 p.m. Additional open house dates are scheduled for January 17, April 23, July 23, and August 20, all in 2027. In case of rain or clouds, alternative dates have been set for the date following each of the scheduled open houses.
Founded in 2000 through a grant from the Oakley Foundation, the observatory features a wide variety of telescopes and other equipment necessary for study of the night sky. The Oakley Observatory is located on the east end of campus, near the Hunt Road entrance. Parking is available in the commuter lot near the bonfire field, also by the Hunt Road entrance. Access to Oakley Observatory requires climbing two flights of outdoor stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.
